Delhi Court Dismisses Anticipatory Bail of UT Cadre IPS Shankar Chaudhary

After registration of FIR against UT Cadre IPS officer Shankar Chaudhary, the Delhi Court has dismissed his anticipatory bail application. In 10 page detailed order, the Court noted, "The offences committed by the applicant are such which undermines the integrity of the justice system, erodes public trust and tarnish the image of police as a whole" According to a copy of the order, the court further noted that since the applicant is a high-ranking official of police, the possibility of tampering with the evidence Influencing the investigation cannot be ruled out".

The Vigilance Unit of the Delhi police had registered an FIR against Chaudhary for alleged illegal raids, unlawful detention and confinement of a foreign national, and misappropriation of authority in a 2023 case.
