The cornerstone of the rapid decline  of Naxalism was the close rapport between the leadership and the force, and the confidence instilled in every fighting personnel that the leadership takes full responsibility for all actions taken in the bona fide discharge of duty. The motto remained that success would be of the force, while responsibility for failure, if any, would be taken by the leadership.

“Policing in Himachal Pradesh has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade.”

Policing in Himachal Pradesh has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade. Traditionally, our focus was primarily on maintaining law and order, investigating conventional crimes, and ensuring public safety. While these remain core responsibilities, today's policing environment is much more dynamic and technology-driven.

Secretary, Urban Development and Principal Director of Fire Services, Sachin Rana, outlined Delhi’s shift toward integrated, infrastructure-led urban planning to accommodate rapid redevelopment, vertical growth, and the challenges of unauthorised colonies. He emphasised that future planning must combine adequate roads, water supply, drainage, sewerage, parking, open spaces, and emergency access while improving basic civic infrastructure in older and vulnerable settlements. Greater coordination among civic agencies is being strengthened to align land use, mobility, utilities, environmental sustainability, and public safety, alongside initiatives such as the PM Uday Scheme and a new portal for processing rehabilitation and regularisation-related charges in unauthorised colonies.
