It Would Have Been Risky For Bengaluru To Begin Rivalry So Soon: No Flashpoint In Reliving Praveen Sood

Senior IPS Alok Mohan's appointment as DGP and consequent Sood's reliving on Saturday has put a full stop to apprehensions of center-state spark. Rumors and so called corridor calculators were discussing a flashpoint being created between center and state just like the case with the West Bengal chief secretary two years back. However, so called experts forgot that it was not about the Chief Secretary but about the CBI director. It won't be incorrect to say that there were unnecessary attempts to connect bureaucratic-politico dots which to a certain extent understood given the political scenario of Karnataka and Sood's relations with the top political brass. But, these calculations estimating flashpoints blatantly fell flat for a few genuine reasons-  Anything with CBI director needs the involvement of the High Power Committee, In 2019 when Alok Verma was reinstated by the Supreme Court but with a snap of the finger ousted by the High Power Committee evidences that any action on CBI director needs committee signal. By virtue of being appointed as CBI director, Praveen Sood secures his skin from any possible attempt to get into last-moment crosshairs with the transiting state government for obvious reasons. Karnataka bureaucracy and Politics which has or will go upside down by a surprising change in electoral mandate would have burned their hands if they wished to play with Sood's appointment order by putting restraints on relieving him. "A yet to get in steady motion government will not play any silly or immature tactics at such juncture," a top source said. Perhaps, Sood now has a greater edge to play a high deterrence games against Congress-led Karnataka Government.
