MHA's 'Illusory' Silence Has Put IPS Lobby On Tenterhooks

The Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) is maintaining mysterious silence over some crucial appointments and cruising with additional charge arrangements. Senior IPS officers say " It seems that MHA wants to put us in cold storage, especially those who are eagerly waiting for central deputation". The reactions of top brass indicate that the IPS lobby is on tenterhooks. However, one needs to see that wheater MHA's silence is real or not. There have been many surprising cases where MHA has amazingly acted. First, Airtight silence over Rakesh Asthana's extension and secretly processing the file of Sanjay Arora as Delhi Police Commissioner. Though MHA and PMO jointly acted in this situation, but MHA's last moment silence indicated that Asthana will be getting an extension at one end.  Whereas on the other hand MHA officials, especially SM divisions, covertly worked on preparing the stage for the next Delhi Police Commissioner. Very few in power corridors got the wind about the development but MHA's deceptive silence didn't let anyone get a confirmed input, top sources say. Second- Silence in CRPF DG appointment, Kuldiep Singh was scheduled to retire in December end and MHA till the very end maintained silence over the new DG, it appeared that an additional charge would come into effect. However,  in a surprise move got Thaousen as DG that too in a regular mode. Though some got the smell about this development, but it was a hard case to sense MHA's move, top sources add. Third-  Holding Karwal in Delhi when everyone was sure about him returning back as Gujarat DGP.  These cases show that MHA had never been in silence mode and if it was then it was "illusory". Secretly working without getting caught is a skill that only espionage establishments can master but MHA has now gradually mastered it, top sources say. The reason for imbibing this skill is said to have emanated from top political offices and this idea of the political offices is spearheaded by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, top sources say.  If MHA is silent over CAPF appointments, it is illusory, if MHA is silent over the fate of the offer list, it is illusory, well placed sources said. DG Empanelment of 1990 is going to roll out soon, a senior IPS officer lobbying hard to cut the other's chance to a top post in CAPF, it seems that  MHA has to do a lot of backstage work or covert working to maintain the "illusory image in power corridors, well placed sources add.
