R&AW Men and Calculations, An Interesting Race For Nagaland DGP?
WITC
It won't be incorrect to say that installing a new Nagaland DGP will be a hard-calculating task for North Block and even for the state itself. Considering the Naga peace talks irrespective of the fact that talks will be held in Delhi, the evolving politico-security environment of Nagaland is something on which a close eye is a must. Therefore, a foresighted and mature officer who can effectively coordinate with security establishments becomes absolutely essential. Top sources in the power corridors have indicated that North Block is vying to install a mature and effective officer in Nagaland. Sources say that Sunil Achaya(Nagaland 1991) presently in R&AW and Rupin Sharma(NL;1992) presently in Nagaland as DG and former R&AW are in consideration. However, Achaya may not return and Sharma's relations with the center are not too healthy, sources suggest. In such circumstances, perhaps, the Centre this time might calculatively play inter cadre deputation cards wherein officers completing 30 years in service might be considered for Nagaland DGP. In case, this happens then DGP might come from the Madhya Pradesh cadre or Assam-Meghalaya cadre, sources say.
