Supreme Court Sets Deadline For Appointment of Next Tamil Nadu DGP

Following a stern order to strictly comply with the Prakash Singh guidelines, the Supreme Court recently set a one-week deadline for appointing the Tamil Nadu DGP. According to a report, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, directed the state to submit a revised proposal within one week, and the UPSC shall take a decision within two weeks thereafter. The court has further allowed the state to appoint another member in place of the acting DGP to represent the State on the UPSC DGP selection committee.Top sources said that after Telangana, Tamil Nadu is the second state to face the deadline.
