Taking Ground Zero Scan: Sagar Preet Hooda's Midnight Surprise Checks Put Everyone On Toes
Special Commissioner Law and Order-II Sagar Preet Hooda reached the field late at night yesterday to give a surprise check on the status of police arrangments in the city during the night. Though it seems to be routine police work, however, surprise visit of Hooda assumes significance under the present scenario where G-20 is around the corner, and complex security and policing challenges are evolving and already running in the background. Since Hooda visited key districts of West- Janakpuri, Mangolpuri, and Sultanpuri which to some extent have grey areas and dark spots, the surprise visit will help in taking stock of the preparedness of the force in improving grey area policing and tackling crime in dark spots which are on the rise in the capital since past few months. Hooda's decision to take a midnight ground zero scan involved three objectives: 1) Checking preparedness and vigilance of the force 2) collecting feedback from the ground 3) Improving the on-field presence and vigilance (grey area and dark spots crimes). Top sources reacting to the development say that a surprise check was necessary given the complex and serious scenario evolving for Delhi Police and the force must learn where it went wrong in the past few months and bridge gaps accordingly. One more officer in the condition of anonymity said: "Sagar sir's surprise checks had put us on our toes, he made enquires about barricading, visibility patrolling, and preparedness of the teams present during night duty, he even enquired from the general public, and interrogated several vehicles". Overall, it shows that Delhi Police is learning from mistakes and strengthening its on-field visibility and preparedness to tackle an upcoming complex environment.
