There May Be A Kink In Delhi Police's Shield But Counterreaction To Crises Is Still Robust, Pathak and Hooda's Cogent Response

In a crisis locked situation, Delhi Police is still facing questions over its response mechanism, policing skills, and other parameters. It has been argued that Delhi Police's so called Shield has failed to protect the delhiites, especially the women. Further, it has been said that the so called shield is only for VIP protectees. Well, to some extent the charge of kink in the shield may stand true because despite pressing reforms by former Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, Delhi Police's shield is still under question. However, some argue that those experiments and reforms to some extent failed during execution. But If we look broader perspective, and analyze the Delhi Police's crises management then to some extent the charge of 'failure of response mechanism' may not stand true because the speedy response of Special Commissioner of Police Depender Pathak at one end and Sagar Preet Hooda managing the heat on the other, evidence the fact that Delhi Police's counter-reaction to the crises is still robust. Both Special CPs of the law and order division- Pathak and Hooda sprung into action to extinguish the fire and hunt down the culprits. Pathak immediately formed four teams and assigned different tasks- from analysis of CCTV footages, evidence management to handling the victim's family. As Pathak was on a hunt mission at one end, Sagar Preet Hooda on the other managed the fire and ensured that the situation and environment do not spiral out. Both Special CPs successfully controlled the storm by tracking to hunting down the culprits in 3 hours and not letting the situation escalate any further. While it may be argued that  Delhi Police still has to pay attention to the kinks in their shield- from failure in their riot management to failure in the presentation of cases during trials. After all, an interesting question still hangs- when Delhi Police's shield is going to stand firm and clean for delhiites?
