Congress Rethinking On Re-inductions?

Congress Rethinking On Re-inductions?

A senior political leader hailing from an adjacent, strategically important state of Delhi, recently approached KC Venugopal, the General Secretary (Organisation) of the Congress party, according to sources. The leader comes from a highly influential political family that has produced several key figures over the decades, including his father, who served as the state's Chief Minister of the state on multiple occasions, sources say. Having shifted political loyalties numerous times throughout his career and navigated through almost all major political parties, the leader is currently aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), sources say. During his discussion with KC Venugopal, the leader expressed a sense of political fatigue and said he wants to return to his original party to spend the remainder of his political career there for personal satisfaction and moral responsibility, sources say.

His primary condition for the return was a guarantee of a Lok Sabha ticket in the 2029 general elections, with the promise that he and his sons would put their full effort into securing the seat for Congress, sources say. Demonstrating a cautious approach, KC Venugopal informed the leader that he would need to discuss the proposition with Rahul Gandhi before making any firm commitments, sources say. Following the meeting, KC Venugopal summoned senior party leader Deepender Singh Hooda to evaluate the proposal in detail, sources say.

Sources add that a senior Congress leader briefed him on the leader's current political standing, noting that after using his time in the BJP to resolve his ongoing legal cases, the leader was no longer receiving significant attention within the party, sources say. Hooda observed that, realizing  his limited political future in the BJP, the leader was attempting to switch sides once again, making his long-term loyalty inherently doubtful, sources say. Based on Deepender Hooda’s assessment and briefing, Congress leadership decided to put the matter on hold for at least a year to observe the leader's political moves before taking any final decision, sources say.
