Everything Not Well Between Congress and Manish Tewari?
A leader, one time in the centre of the party command and considered one of the most effective politicians, is now dejected with the treatment being meted out in the party from the top brass, even after serving more than forty years in the party. Manish Tewari, member of parliament from Anandpur Sahib, knows well that still 30% of the Hindus of Punjab, if turned towards the Congress party, the days are not far away to form the state government, and for this always pleading to the high command of the Congress party, a source says.
Even when Capt Amrinder Singh was at the helm of the party and government, the party preferred to have one Hindu, Jakhar, as the state president, but now the leadership is batting with Amrinder Singh Raja Warring as state president and Channi, ex-CM of the state, to woo the Dalits and backward Sikhs, a source says. Manish Tewari has not been given any charge during the coming state elections, a source says. Probably the treatment has given space to rumours that now at this age he is likely to join the BJP, sources said.
Recently, on the 17th, he was seen with the PM during the inauguration of many projects in his constituency, and before this, he also met with another senior leader of the BJP with a long list of works of his constituency, the source says. During that meeting, the senior leaders probably hinted that the doors are always open for him, but as said, Tewari politely, with a smile, replied that it's more than 40 years in the Congress and he would prefer to continue, the source says. Despite all this, why the headquarters ignores him is a matter of concern with senior leaders of the Congress, sources said.
Manish Tewari, at his own expense, got a survey conducted of the state, and the results were very disturbing for the Congress party, a source says. The report indicates that a 4 to 6 % swing is in favour of AAP, and most likely the AAP will win 66-70 seats out of the 117 total seats, an alarming situation for the Congress and the party high command to rethink policies to be adopted to regain power in the state, sources said.
