Everything Not Well In Gujarat Politics?
Gujarat politics is reportedly facing unprecedented turbulence, leaving senior ruling party leaders deeply concerned about the stability of the state government and the smooth administration of the party, a source says. Known for his calm and composure, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is reportedly unhappy with the growing influence and conduct of his deputy, prompting him to rush to New Delhi, sources said. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, a 41-year-old leader, who represents the Majoora assembly constituency for a third consecutive term, is widely regarded as a close confidant of the party’s central leadership, a source says. Sanghvi’s political trajectory has been swift.
After being appointed Minister of State for Home, Prisons, and Border Security in October 2021, he was elevated to become the state’s youngest Deputy Chief Minister in October 2025, holding key portfolios including Home, Civil Aviation, Law, Tourism, MSME, and Industries, a source says. This rapid rise and expanding power base have fueled widespread speculation that Sanghvi is being positioned as the state's next Chief Minister, a source says. However, his assertive functioning has led to accusations from political quarters that he is acting as a "super CM," creating administrative friction with the Chief Minister’s office, a source says. The matter has reportedly escalated directly to the Prime Minister, with the Chief Minister seeking central intervention so he can govern without internal interference, a source says.
