Exploring Solutions For Brain Drain?
Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, one of the ancillary organisations of RSS has seriously raised the issue of brain drain. SJM is working on the project to provide the best facilities to students in the country source says. One of the authorities of SJM said that the record says that during the last 30 years, the number of students going abroad has gone up approximately 10 times. Ashwani Mahajan, Co-Coordinator of SJM referring to government data said that between 2016 and 2021 approximately 26.44 lakh students went abroad for studies source says. Ashwani further referred to data from FICCI and said that 4.5 lakh students preferred foreign institutions and universities for studies and the government had to incur approximately 13.5 billion US dollars in 2020 source says. This expenditure increased to 24 billion US dollars and is expected that this will further go up to approximately 50 billion US dollars in 2024 source says. He opined that foreign institutions and universities have become shops of education but in the absence of good, institutions of standard, leaving some are not available in the country source says. The students not have very good percentages are proffering foreign educational institutions. The high cut-off percentage for admissions in reputed institutes is also one of the reasons for brain drain sources say. Ashwani says further that the government should start a pan-India program to educate the students about the minus points of studying abroad and the benefits of studying in their country source says. He also says that after studying the proper research initiatives, good jobs and proper atmosphere to live in also necessary source says.
