KJ George An Active Troubleshooter For Congress High Command?
Not a very familiar face in Delhi, but a senior Congress party member and minister in Shivkumar's government has played a vital role in convincing Siddharamaiah to step down respectfully, the source says. He is a five-term MLA who previously served the state in many capacities and is very close to Siddaramaiah, the ex-CM of Karnataka. He accompanied Siddaramaiah when Rahul Gandhi summoned him for a one-to-one talk, a source says. During the discussion, though, even Venugopalan was asked to step out, but he remained with Siddaramaiah and calmed him when Rahul Gandhi asked him to step down, the source says. From the outside, it looks as if that transition was very calm and peaceful, but, as the source says, lots of manoeuvring had taken place in the process.
After the meeting, George took him to his Sundar Nagar residence and confined him for hours in a closed room to persuade him to accept the high command's offer and step down respectfully, the source says. He again accompanied Siddaramaiah on 28th May to ensure the resignation letter was handed over to the high command. In between, Yatinder Siddaramaiah was also brought in his jet to Delhi for discussions with the high command, sources say. It seems that his services will be sought in the future as well, and people see him as the second Oscar Fernandes, the source says.
