Limited Options In Uttar Pradesh?

The question of whether Yogi Adityanath can be sidelined in Uttar Pradesh has become a matter of discussion within political circles. The central leadership has already commissioned several surveys to assess the ground realities of the state. In one such survey, the task was to determine the impact if the party were to contest without Yogi as its leader, sources say. The results were striking, making it clear that without Yogi, regaining power would be extremely difficult, sources say. The recent outburst of the Governor during a convocation ceremony, following her physical inspections of hostels and other facilities, is being viewed by observers as an attempt to downplay the significance of the Chief Minister, sources say.

Her remark that “in a place where the CM is enthroned, if such activities are going on, what will be in other places” was seen as a clear indication that the CM was not capable of handling his own hometown, raising questions about the fate of other regions, the source says. Yogi, by nature, does not keep matters pending, and just two to three days later, while visiting Ambedkar Nagar, he responded in his speech by invoking the general belief that whoever has visited Noida has failed to retain his chair. He stated that “the chair which is to go tomorrow can be taken today, and I am ready for all consequences,” the source says. The infighting over supremacy within the party, if it exists, will need to be resolved to return with a thumping majority, the source says.
