Political Parties Begin Strategizing For Gen Z?

Political Parties Begin Strategizing For Gen Z?

The influence of Generation Z is clearly evident in the shifting dynamics within political parties across India. Currently, public discourse emphasises the growing importance of Gen-Z, prompting political parties to strategise accordingly. For instance, Pawan Kalyan, the leader of the Jan Sena party in Andhra Pradesh, recently convened a meeting with senior party members, urging them to move beyond traditional political tactics and adopt innovative approaches to engage the youth demographic, as the source said.

He established a committee called ‘Sena Gulam’ to reach out to young people aged 18 to 25 to assess their needs and aspirations, according to sources close to the party. Pawan Kalyan, a renowned film actor-turned-politician, publicly expressed zeal for Vijay, another film star who founded a political party and remarkably rose to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu within two years. Kalyan noted that Vijay’s substantial support among young voters was a key factor in his rapid political rise, contrasting it with his own party, formed 15 years earlier, which remains a junior partner in the coalition government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP, a source says. Similarly, Vijay, the current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, is also focusing heavily on engaging Generation Z voters.
