Seniors In Congress Still Want Power Refusing Change?
The oldest political party of the country is facing a unique problem. The leaders of between 80-90 years and 70-80 years old are not ready to hand over the power to the next generation, and by this or that wants to continue where as in other political parties, the process is working, and slowly new generation leaders are getting a chance to come to the front to lead, the source says.
Recently, Ashok Gehlot, around 75 years of age, raised the issue of the past year, when supporters of Rajesh Pilot moved away to Manesar, and it was presumed that the entire process was to topple Ashok Gehlot government, according to a source. Later, all matters were settled, and there was no need to raise the issue now, but it was in rumours that the party is grooming Rajesh Pilot for the next CM, if it comes to power after the next elections, a source says. The observers feel that the cause to raise the issue was to paint the Pilot as not dependable and prove that he is the only dependable leader of the party in Rajasthan. The party, anyhow, managed the damage, and Rajesh Pilot was given responsibilities in the headquarters, a source says.
Likewise, Kamal Nath, ex CM of MP and ex-central minister, also claimed this time for the Rajya Sabha ticket from the party on the third seat from the state, according to the source. Perhaps his past act, where in it was rumoured that he, alongwith his son Nakul Nath were almost at the doorstep of the BJP to join after a humiliating defeat in the assembly election source says, came in the way and one of most loyal party workers and intelligent leader Meenakshi Natrajan, was given a chance to contest, but sources say some manipulations and clever acts saw rejection of her nomination. Digvijay Singh, a two-time MP of the Rajya Sabha, gracefully announced that he is not a contender for a ticket this time, a source says.
In other states, the central leadership is also facing such a problem, which ultimately affects party unity and performance, the source says. The age-old leaders must think of the transfer of power to next for more dynamic execution and build a strong party with their matured advises sitting from the outside sources, says. The party is to think of creating a ‘ Marg Darshak Mandal’ to provide a graceful retirement and proper utilisation of their experience, the source says.
