Silence Over Cabinet Reshuffle?
Despite ongoing political calculations and widespread speculation, no definitive signals or administrative indications have emerged regarding an immediate Union Cabinet reshuffle, the source says. The Prime Minister maintains a packed schedule, leaving little window for a swearing-in ceremony before "Pitru Paksha" begins on September 26, the source says. Following a scheduled visit to his home constituency and subsequently to Gujarat, the Prime Minister is set to lead a two-day "Chintan Shivir" on September 23 and 24, for the ministers, the source says. During this session at Seva Teerth, ministers will assemble in groups of eight to present vision documents, review policy implementation (Niti Nirdharan), and evaluate performance over their term.
Aside from September 25, which appears relatively light on official engagements, no formal intimation has been dispatched to Rashtrapati Bhavan to align the President's presence in New Delhi for an oath taking ceremony, the source says. Similar structured brainstorming sessions were conducted during Modi 2.0, notably the June 2021 group meetings and the October 2021 Chintan Shivir, held following the July 7 expansion, during which 43 ministers were inducted. Given that the PMO typically requires 15 to 20 days to evaluate the vision documents and performance ratings submitted during these sessions, any administrative changes are likely deferred until Navratri, a period widely considered auspicious for embarking on new initiatives, the source says. Concurrently, discussions persist about the potential reconvening of Parliament to complete the Monsoon Session agenda, as well as the possible introduction of key legislation such as the Delimitation Bill, the source says.
