To soothe the feelings of the prominent Lingayat community in the state, the central leadership of BJP appointed the son of ex-CM and most prominent political leader of the community, Yediyurappa, as a state party chief source says. But the decision resulted in almost a split of the party into two groups and differences are now in open source says. One senior leader and sitting MLA Basangauda Patil Yatnaal gone on record against the appointment of junior Yediyurappa source says. He further charged the senior Yediyurappa to siphon Rs 40,000 crores from government funds during the COVID-19 pandemic source says.
