Tight Calculations For Bankipur Constituency?

Being the home assembly constituency of the BJP president, Bankipur, Patna, has gained national importance. Prashant Kishore (PK) of the Jansuraj party is challenged by Niraj Sinha of the BJP and Rekha Gupta of the RJD. PK is a well-known figure in Bihar, Niraj Sinha is a novice, and a worker of the party and has the support of the RSS, and Rekha Gupta is a local leader having a strong presence in her community, as well as sympathisers in other castes like Yadav and backwards, according to the sources. The attempt by Rahul Gandhi to have a common candidate from the opposition failed due to the adamancy of Tejaswi Yadav, a source says. He feels that Rekha Gupta is likely to get support from her community as well as all other backwards communities. The BJP candidate, though from the Kayastha community, has support from the BJP president and the constituency is also dominated by the Kayasthas, but fails to muster winnable support from the voters, a source says. PK would likely muster some support from the upper caste, and the winnability of the candidate of the RJD would increase if everything goes as planned, Tejaswi feels, a source says. The BJP made it a prestige issue, and all efforts are being taken to win the seat, the source says.
