After In Cold For Three Years, Senior IPS Ashish Gupta Seeks VRS

Ashish Gupta, a senior IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh 1989 batch and presently serving as the DG Rules and Manuals, Uttar Pradesh Police, has sought VRS from service as per sources. With almost two years of service left, his decision has sparked discussions not only in UP power corridors but also in Delhi's power corridors. Despite his seniority, Gupta has been in a challenging position ever since he was prematurely repatriated from NATRID almost three years back.

He has even made a failed attempt to get on board at the centre again. His name has been on the offer list for months, but no green signal has been given for his posting at the DG level yet. Top sources in Delhi are still pondering over the real reason behind Gupta's early retirement decision. They speculate that his prolonged period of being sidelined may have played a role in this difficult decision.
