CISF To Get New DG: Nina Singh Calculates Her DGP Prospects

Nina Singh IPS: RJ: 1989) the present interim DG of CISF, seems to be calculating her options for returning home. Top sources say that Nina Singh is being considered for Rajasthan DGP. The reasons are quite obvious. Singh has limited time on her hand(due to retire next year in July). A full charge of CISF is unlikely now; Singh, who got the additional charge in August this year, had an opportunity to regularize the charge even the chances seemed bright; however, after a few months, it was decided to hold the regularization of Singh's interim charge, top sources said. As time is running out and if nothing materialises much for Singh in the centre, it is expected that Singh might return to the parent cadre. Top sources even said that after Nina Singh paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Rajasthan CM, curiosity about her return in power corridors increased. As far as the fate of the present DGP is concerned, if everything goes well, Singh, then incumbent DG Umesh Mishra, is likely to shift to some other post; precedence speaks- Ashok Gehlot removed O. P Gehlotra after taking over in 2018. Now it's their turn, maybe. There is nothing new in making abrupt changes at the DGP level, as we have seen in UP, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.  Whatever the case, there is quite less incentive for Singh to stay in centre; while Shubra Singh is the frontrunner for Rajasthan Chief Secretary, it won't be surprising to see Nina Singh at the helm.
