Long Trail And Crosswinds of Terror Cases But Dhaliwal Led Team Kept The Puzzle Intact
The murder of Soumya Vishwanathan, a journalist in Headlines Today, which is India Today nowadays, was shot dead on Nelson Mandela Marg In South Delhi on 30th September 2008. Back then, H.G.S Dhaliwal, currently Special CP of Special Cell, was DCP South district back then. Dhaliwal and his team were already under intense pressure by the 2008 synchronized bombings in Delhi that took place weeks before the murder of Vishwanathan. Despite being caught in the crosswinds of both cases, Dhaliwal and his team did not leave any stone unturned in launching a speedy and stringent probe against the murder case. Accordingly, all accused were arrested in 2009 in connecting the dots of another murder of a BPO employee, after which they were slapped with stringent provisions of MCOCA 1999 and murder charges. Within four months of arrest, the chargesheet against all accused was filed. The hard struggle for Justice cost 15 years of trial, and the prosecution took 13 years to present the evidence. But irrespective of all the delays and losing patience, Dhaliwal led the team back in 2008 kept the case puzzle intact with a strong investigation, which helped the parents of Soumya Vishawathan to get served with much-awaited justice. The Special Cell Chief said "Truly satisfying when the families of the victims express faith in our working and we honour the trust".
