Sudden Power Vaccum In SPG, CAPF Boss To Fill In The Void?

Sudden Power Vaccum In SPG, CAPF Boss To Fill In The Void?

The unfortunate demise of the present SPG chief, Arun Sinha, has sent shockwaves in the power corridors. A powerful vacuum at the topmost, which is responsible for the PM's security and the present security landscape with incoming elections next year, demands an officer who has farsightedness, skilled with operational acumen at the helms of SPG Director, just like Arun Sinha, who ruled the roost of elite protection unit since 2016. Top sources say that there will be no immediate full charge and an interim arrangement most likely to be made by giving additional charge of SPG director to Alok Sharma, the present Additional Director of SPG. Sources further add that a decision on the regular director might be taken by the end of October, and it has been said that S.L Thousen may be the best man for the top job of Director SPG once he demits the office of DG CRPF. Since Thaousen has wide and long operational experience in SPG, He joined SPG in 2004 as DIG, was promoted to IG in 2009 and continued to serve the elite force till 2013, making a total of 9 years of experience. In the span of 9 years, he supervised the security protocols of PM and former PMs, including important events like Independence Day/Republic Day celebrations in Delhi, Commonwealth Games 2010 and many others. Thousen's SPG experience has now been complemented by his current paramilitary experience, which makes him a strong candidate for SPG Director among the pool of probables. Therefore, one year extension in service for Thousen seems almost clear in the next few months.
