Ram Madhav's Name Set For Rajya Sabha Nomination?
Despite his long-standing organizational footprint, the 62-year-old leader Ram Madhav has never held a seat in either House of Parliament, sources say. Originally hailing from Andhra Pradesh, he maintains active interests in Tamil Nadu and has done considerable work for Tamil refugees through his think tank, the India Foundation, sources say. During Amit Shah's tenure as BJP National President, Ram Madhav served as a National General Secretary and key strategist, though he was later phased out of primary organisational roles during JP Nadda's presidency, sources say. Highly regarded for his expertise in border security and strategic affairs, he has recently returned to the party's central leadership, sources say.
Following appointments under BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Ram Madhav was inducted as a National Vice President and assigned organizational charge of Tamil Nadu and poll-bound Uttarakhand, sources say. Political speculation is growing that the party leadership is likely to nominate him to the Rajya Sabha from either Uttar Pradesh or Uttarakhand, sources say. With upcoming Rajya Sabha vacancies where the party expects to secure eight seats from Uttar Pradesh and one from Uttarakhand, his name is reportedly under consideration for nomination, sources say. At the same time, regional leaders from Uttar Pradesh, including prominent names such as B.L. Verma, Smriti Irani, Sanjeev Balyan, Harish Dwivedi, Shrikant Sharma, and Satyapal Singh, are actively lobbying for party tickets, sources say.
