The State Minister for External affairs recently attended one social gathering arranged by the Guyana embassy to celebrate Diwali. Sources say during the celebration she requested to invitees to raise their hand and loudly say”JAI SHRI RAM” the invitees not understood the word or meaning followed her version but some Muslim representatives opposed and kept silent. Unofficially matter has been reported to the Ministry of External Affairs resulted in a change of the leader of the touring delegation to Guyana and sources say another State minister V Muraleedharan now to lead. In another recent incident, Mrs Lekhi at her residence invited envoys to celebrate Karwa Chauth. During celebration she requested lady invitees to look at Moon through Chalni, and Chalni were provided to each by the staff of minister, sources say. Sources say many think that making aware the other foreign countrymen about Hindu culture and festivals is not wrong but in a way, in diplomatic circles, some feel that these actions bounce back and are not very healthy in an international forum?
